Order flowersArranged in Wangaratta and delivered by hand Monday to Saturday, from the town centre out to Glenrowan and Milawa. Same-day delivery when you order before 2pm on a weekday or 10am on Saturday, Victorian time.
Wangaratta stands where the Ovens and King rivers meet, 236 km north-east of Melbourne on the Hume Freeway and 73 km short of Albury. The town has about 19,200 residents (2021 census), close to 30,000 across the Rural City, and an unusual shape: because the rivers flood, the business district sits on the north-eastern edge and the suburbs spread south and west away from the water. Searching for Wangaratta florists online brings up national websites and the town's own shops; when you order through us the arrangement is made by a florist in Wangaratta itself, not posted from Melbourne in a box, which is why it can arrive the same day and in water.
The town's suburbs of Yarrunga, Appin Park, Wangaratta South, North Wangaratta and Waldara are on the daily run. Further out, Glenrowan, 16 km south-west and famous for the Kelly siege of 1880, Oxley, Tarrawingee, Londrigan and Milawa, 18 km south-east, are covered from Wangaratta too, though a country address is usually delivered after the town. The cellar doors and farm gates of Milawa and the King Valley often sit well back from the road, so give the business name or the property name and a mobile number. Beechworth, Benalla and Albury are served by their own florists.
Orders placed before 2pm on a weekday or 10am on a Saturday, Wangaratta time, are delivered the same day, Monday to Saturday. Sunday is not a delivery day. Victoria uses daylight saving from the first Sunday in October to the first Sunday in April, and that matters if you are ordering from a state that does not. From Brisbane or anywhere in Queensland in summer you have less time, not more: 2pm in Wangaratta is 1pm in Brisbane, so a Queensland sender should order by 1pm their time. From Perth the cut-off is 11am in summer and noon in winter; from Adelaide it is 1.30pm all year.
Northeast Health Wangaratta, the public hospital founded in 1872 and rebuilt in a redevelopment finished in December 2022, is at 35-47 Green Street, Wangaratta 3677, with an emergency department, maternity, a paediatric ward and an intensive care unit. Wangaratta Private Hospital is at 134-150 Templeton Street. General wards at Northeast Health receive visitors from 8am to 1pm and 3pm to 8pm; intensive care, which does not take fresh flowers, has shorter hours. Phone the ward before you order, as some other wards also restrict flowers, and give the patient's full name and ward. If the patient has been transferred to Albury or Melbourne, or is heading home, redirect the order rather than risk it arriving after them.
Wangaratta's best-known event is the Wangaratta Festival of Jazz and Blues, held around the cathedral grounds and St Pat's Hall; the 2026 festival runs from 30 October to 2 November, finishing with Milawa Monday among the wineries, and the town is booked out that weekend. The vintage in the King Valley and at Milawa falls between February and April, when a bottle and a bouquet together make a good thank-you. Mother's Day is Sunday 9 May 2027, delivered on Saturday 8 May with a 10am cut-off; Father's Day is Sunday 5 September 2027; Valentine's Day on 14 February arrives in the dry heat of a north-east summer, so roses should reach water quickly. On Anzac Day, 25 April, rosemary on the lapel and a wreath at the service take the place of bouquets.
Wangaratta's inland climate gives it warm to hot summers, with a record of 45.8 degrees, and cool winters that have dropped to minus 7.2, with about 615 mm of rain falling mostly in winter. In summer that means the florist favours stems that stand up to heat, including lilies, gerberas, alstroemeria, sunflowers and natives, and keeps roses for cooler days. Autumn is the north-east's loveliest season and the time for dahlias, chrysanthemums and the return of tulips, which is why so many Mother's Day bouquets here are built around them. Winter brings proteas, leucadendron, iris, carnations and orchids, and spring ranunculus, roses in quantity and peonies for a few weeks in November. A seasonal bouquet gives the florist room to use what came in that morning.
Wangaratta Public Cemetery lies off Mason Street in the south of town and takes most of the district's burials. Funeral tributes such as a casket spray, wreath or sheaf are ordered two to three days ahead through the funeral director or a florist near the chapel. No florist can promise delivery to the service itself, so give the family's home as a second address. Sympathy flowers to the house can be sent the day the news arrives or later, when visitors have stopped coming.
Bouquets start from AUD 75, larger arrangements and roses by the dozen cost more, the Wangaratta delivery fee is added at checkout and a card with your message is included.
Did you know? Did you know? Wangaratta's business district sits at the north-eastern edge of town, not in the middle, because the Ovens and King rivers flood and the suburbs were built away from the water.
