Christmas
Give the most beautiful gift of Christmas – flowers that brighten up the home.
Order flowersA Wodonga florist delivers Monday to Saturday to Wodonga, West Wodonga, Baranduda, Leneva and Bandiana. Get the order in by 2pm on a weekday or 10am on Saturday, Victorian time, and it arrives the same day.
Wodonga started life as a customs post on the Victorian bank of the Murray and took off when the first bridge to Albury opened in 1860. Today it is Victoria's largest city on the river, 324 km north-east of Melbourne and 559 km from Sydney, with 37,839 residents at the 2021 census and close to 98,000 across Albury-Wodonga as a whole. It is an Army town, a logistics town and a university town, which means a florist here delivers to barracks gates, warehouse offices and student flats as often as to front doors. Whatever the address, the flowers are made up in Wodonga and delivered by hand.
The run covers central Wodonga and West Wodonga, the newer streets of Baranduda and Leneva to the south, Killara, Huon Creek and Staghorn, and out to Bandiana, Bonegilla, Ebden and Barnawartha. Albury, across the river in New South Wales, has its own page with us, though the two cities keep the same clock. Deliveries to the Army's logistics base at Bandiana, including Latchford Barracks and Gaza Ridge Barracks, stop at the gate: give the recipient's mobile number and unit, because the driver cannot go onto the base. La Trobe University's Wodonga campus and Wodonga TAFE are the same, so for a student or staff member add a building and a phone number. For the Logic industrial estate and the big employers out there, send to the home unless you know reception will accept flowers.
Order by 2pm on a weekday or 10am on a Saturday, Victorian time, and the florist delivers that day, Monday to Saturday; Sunday is the one day with no deliveries. Because Victoria and New South Wales both run daylight saving from October to April, Albury and Wodonga never drift apart, but Queensland does: from Brisbane the 2pm Wodonga cut-off is 1pm your time in summer and 2pm in winter. From Perth it is 11am in summer and noon in winter, and from Adelaide 1.30pm all year. Anything ordered after the cut-off is delivered the next working day, or on whichever date you nominate.
Albury Wodonga Health's Wodonga campus is on Vermont Street, Wodonga 3690; the Albury campus, where many Border patients end up, is on Borella Road, Albury 2640. Ring the ward before ordering, because intensive care and some wards take no fresh flowers; give the patient's full name and the ward, and if discharge is near, the home is the better address. A patient at the Albury campus is delivered from the Albury side, which is a separate run.
Wodonga Cemetery is at the corner of Melrose Drive and Sangsters Road, Wodonga 3690, with the trust office at 190 Sangsters Road. Service tributes, including wreaths, sheaves and casket sprays, are best ordered two or three days ahead through the funeral director or a Wodonga florist; delivery to the service itself is never guaranteed, so give the family's home as a second address. A sympathy bouquet to the house can be sent the same day under the normal cut-off.
The Wodonga Show is held each March by a volunteer show society, and spring brings the Wodonga Kite Festival (17 October 2026) and the Northeast Food and Wine Festival across the Border's venues (23 to 25 October 2026). Mother's Day is Sunday 9 May 2027; with no Sunday delivery, flowers go out on Saturday 8 May and the cut-off is 10am. Father's Day is Sunday 5 September 2027. Valentine's Day on 14 February falls in a hot, dry month on the Murray, so roses should be delivered to a workplace in the morning or to a home where someone can get them into water. On Anzac Day, 25 April, an Army town turns out in force at dawn, and the tradition is rosemary and a wreath rather than a bouquet.
Wodonga has a true inland climate: a mean maximum of 22 degrees and a mean minimum of 9, about 715 mm of rain and 125 clear days a year, with cold winter mornings and long hot summers. In summer the florist leans on roses, gerberas, carnations, gladioli and orchids, which cope with the heat of a car or a verandah. Dahlias flower across Victoria from February to May and dominate autumn bouquets, alongside proteas and leucadendrons. Winter, when the river fogs sit on the town until mid-morning, is tulip, ranunculus and daffodil season, and spring brings peonies, sweet pea and delphiniums. A seasonal bouquet lets the florist use what came in that morning.
Bouquets start at AUD 75. The delivery fee is added at checkout and the card message is included.
Did you know? Did you know? Wodonga was briefly renamed Belvoir in the 1800s before reverting to its original name, and its post office has been open since 1 June 1856, four years before the first bridge to Albury.
